Custom Cosmotron Bubble Car by Paul Bacon
The Cosmotron is a custom bubble car built over 18 months by Paul Bacon using a 1998 BMW Z3 chassis with a 2.8-liter inline-six engine. Known for its outlandish design reminiscent of futuristic 1960s vehicles, it features a body crafted from polystyrene, expanding foam, fiberglass, and steel beams, topped with a Perspex dome roof. The car incorporates household items like salt and pepper shakers as part of its unique aesthetic. Despite its unconventional appearance, the Cosmotron is road legal and capable of 140 mph in theory, but its handling is noted to be challenging.
