BMW 2002 by Son of Cobra
The Son of Cobra 1969 BMW 2002, crafted by Paul Lefevre, is a striking example of personalized automotive artistry that melds classic design with modern innovation. Originally from Normandy, Paul relocated to California and utilized his surfboard crafting skills to innovate with lightweight composites, creating unique BMW 2002 components and surfboards. His reshaping of the 2002 includes a set of carbon fiber widebody fenders that redefine the car's visual proportions, influenced by the aesthetics of Alpina and other classic designs. Under the carbon fiber exterior lies an S14 engine acquired from an E30 M3, tuned to produce 210 horsepower and relocated to improve the weight distribution of the vehicle. Significant weight reduction has been achieved, setting the car at a mere 1,800 lbs. Additional enhancements include lightweight aluminum wheels and brake calipers, KW suspension coilovers, and other carefully selected components that create a balance between preservation of the 02’s heritage and modern-day performance. Paul Lefevre’s dedication to perfection and innovation is evident in this exemplary restomod project.
