1995 Honda del Sol by Wray Gillette
Wray Gillette's 1995 Honda del Sol is a remarkable example of dedication and ambition in the automotive world. Initially acquired as a fun and affordable alternative to Civics and Integras, the car has undergone a comprehensive transformation under Gillette's ownership. After starting with minor modifications and a turbo setup on the original D16Z6 engine, Gillette eventually pursued a more ambitious build with a B18C1 engine. The extensive modifications include a Borg Warner S300 series 62MM Turbo, AEBS sleeves, CP pistons, Carrillo rods, and Ferrea valvetrain components, reaching a formidable 696 horsepower. Accompanied by a Tilton twin-disc clutch and Quaife limited-slip differential, this del Sol achieved a personal best quarter-mile time of 10.4 seconds. Despite facing challenges such as transmission issues, Gillette's relentless pursuit showcases his contributions to drag racing and the car community.
