Scott Birdsall, a master fabricator and race car driver known for his record-setting runs at Pikes Peak, has transformed a 1991 Toyota Hilux from a simple garbage hauler to a highly specialized Bonneville Speed Week challenger. Initially serving a utilitarian role at Chuckles Garage, this pickup underwent a radical transformation with the intent to set new speed records on the salt flats. Central to its transformation is a 2JZ-GTE engine running on methanol, aimed at shattering speed benchmarks in the mini/midsize category. Complementing the engine are a host of specialized modifications including a Haltech Nexus ECU, a Radium Engineering fuel system, and a 6XD sequential gearbox. The build is further enhanced with Amsoil lubricants, Sabelt seats, and Vibrant Performance components such as PTFE plumbing.
