1989 Mercedes-Benz 190E by Dom Tucci

Dom Tucci of Tucci’s Hot Rods in New York has created an extraordinary 1989 Mercedes-Benz 190E that secured a Pit+Paddock SEMA Award in 2023. Tucci’s 190E stands out with its authentic EVO II widebody fenders sourced from the UK and a striking OEM Blauschwarz Metallic paint job. Originally a bare shell, this car was transformed into a masterpiece, both inside and out, with period-correct Recaro seats and other materials enhancing its vintage appeal. The heart of the build is a twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine from a Ford Raptor, producing a significant 700hp, a testament to Tucci’s hot rod heritage. The rear suspension integrates a Subaru STI subframe and differential, allowing for the use of a Wilwood brake kit and ISC billet parts. Meanwhile, the front suspension employs tubular components from QA1, based on SN95 Mustang geometry. This unique combination of parts makes the 190E suitable for putting on many miles, and showcases Tucci's innovative approach to mixing different automotive influences, resulting in a blend that is both historic and heavily modernized.
