1957 Chevy 3100 "Kiowa" by Anthony Carcelli and Adam Pela
Anthony Carcelli, co-owner of DMAX Swap, along with Adam Pela, transformed a 1957 Chevy 3100 into a modern marvel known as "Kiowa," fitted with a 6.6-liter turbocharged V8 LBZ Duramax diesel engine. The conversion aimed to blend the classic vintage aesthetic with contemporary reliability and performance. Carcelli chose the Duramax engine due to its power and reliability, maintaining the factory turbo and radiator but adding a water-to-air intercooler for enhanced performance. Modifications from DMAX Swap include a TransGo shift kit, ported fuel rail fittings, and a Pusher Intakes Y-bridge to optimize airflow and fuel delivery. Additional features include Wilwood brakes, a Porterbuilt front drop member kit, 20" Detroit Steel Wheels wrapped in DiamondBack Whitewalls, and Ridetech parallel bars for improved stance and handling. The exterior and interior blend vintage elements with modern conveniences, featuring a Dakota Digital cluster, Bluetooth sound system, and titanium materials from Hutch’s Welding and TiCON Industries. Through "Kiowa", Carcelli demonstrates the potential of merging classic design with modern engineering to create a reliable daily driver.
