1948 Chevrolet 3100 by Laurie Melen and Stephen Coggins

This 1948 Chevrolet 3100 was a passion project for Laurie Melen, constructed with the assistance of her boyfriend, Stephen Coggins. Laurie was deeply involved in the build, influencing many of the truck’s key features despite facing significant health challenges. She chose a Premier Street Rods body and Mar-K bed for the project, while the chassis included a flat top from Rockabilly Fabrication, complete with independent C4 Corvette suspension. The truck is powered by a 2016 L86 6.2-liter engine paired with an 8-speed, 8L90 transmission. Notable features include 17-inch Diamond Back Classic wide whitewall tires on US Wheel smoothies with dog dish hubcaps, and a meticulously chosen Slate Gray Metallic paint from a 2016 Tahoe. The interior features a Forever Sharp steering wheel and custom mahogany ultra-leather seat cover that Laurie helped sew. Despite Laurie’s untimely passing, the truck stands as a testament to her dedication and a touching tribute to her legacy.
